Project Vegas

Twice a year, thousands of the world’s, predominantly male oriented, premium fashion brands descend on the Nevada Desert hoping to make their mark with the retailers that roam the makeshift corridors of the Vegas fashion trade shows.  Perhaps the most coveted of these are Project and ENK due to the premium positioning of their clients.  Fashion.net teamed up with No Such Agency and we went down to see what was what.  Here are our picks of the best of Vegas, in no particular order…

Ashley Marc Hovelle

This line is inspired by the fabrics, graphics and films from the iconic 80’s and 90’s: ‘Futuretro’. Ashley’s collection for SS’13 was a great way to bring back the 80’s and 90’s, without going overboard. Great tees, bright swim trunks, and comfy sweats. Did we also mention that his shirts are 100% water resistant?

Jacob Holston

Jacob Holston is a collection of ideas about style for men who are constantly evolving. These styles are timeless in design mixed with intricate details and trims; they possess colors, subtle or not, they feel great on, and the cut is exact. The color base of the collection was inspired by the Mediterranean, which added a beautiful surprise in the handmade knits and lightweight jackets.

Alex Maine

This brand designed by the American people, constructed by the American people, and sold by the American people—100% American. The brand prides itself on having fun while creating unique, upscale apparel, using the finest American craftsmanship and the most comfortable fabrics. All with a charity element, always giving back to the America people. The SS’13 collection showcased great colors and fabrics that are perfect for any occasion.

NUMBER:Lab

NUMBER:Lab was one of the first labels we loved at Project. For the athletic side of the discerning man (or vice-versa); NUMBER:Lab is a collection that’s relaxed in feel, but tailored in fit, to elevate their guys’ everyday look and performance. Showing with the Blackdog8 showroom, this collection stood out.

Hudson Jeans

The Cali-British label is never one to disappoint these days. After stopping by the booth to catch up with old friends and the new season, we were once again blown away by how progressive their SS’13 collection is and what a shining star they are in both men’s and women’s categories.  Celebrating 10 years (has it really been that long?), we can only imagine how great the next 10 will be.

Zane Robe.

What started off as a bet over a beer between two friends has now become an internationally recognized label and a dream come true for friends Leith Testoni and Jonathan Yeo of premium menswear label ZANEROBE.  The strengths, masculinity, and relaxed print button ups in their collection had us in a complete ‘Fear and Loathing in Las Vega’s moment.

Under 2 Flags.

They are born from the historic union of two great nations; Great Britain and The United States of America. A story that travels from Saville Row to the Lower East Side; from the patriotic spirit of their nations’ forefathers to the contemporary chivalry of modern men. Under Two Flags displays amazing contrast and style. Their unique tailored and built-to-last pieces dive into striped prints and American Flag inspiration for their SS 13′ collection.

PUMA

PUMA believes that their position as the creative leader in Sportslifestyle gives them the opportunity and the responsibility to contribute to a better world for the generations to come. British born creative director of Puma, Hussein Chalayan infuses the brand with a fashion forward-edge. He is known for his artistic take and avant-garde approach to design, fusing this with modern technical fabrications both his outer-wear and footwear is a must for SS’13.  We loved Puma’s Alexander McQueen sneakers; madly soft fabrics and beautiful design details offer a shoe that combines comfort, function and the ultimate fashion statement; effortlessly.

Ben Sherman.

Having been adopted by many of the significant cultural movements over the past five decades, Ben Sherman now presents a full lifestyle offering, available in over 40 countries worldwide, and continues to embrace a heritage of modernism.  Their SS 13′ collection was, crazily, inspired by the Jazz scene of 1960’s America and still managed to be one of the best of the best of the brands of this season due to their blend of achingly cool styles, design details and their unique contemporary sensibility.  We have to say, what a transformation from the ‘mod only’ brand of just a few years ago.
